A 15-year-old minor girl of Nilgiri, who was allegedly kidnapped by her 22-year-old male lover of Khantapara, surrendered before the Baleswar SP on Saturday.

She was further sent to a short stay home after medical examinations and recording of statement as per 161 and 164 of Crpc, said IIC Nilgiri Ramesh Chandra Singh.

The police had launched a massive manhunt to trace the fugitives after a video footage went viral recently.

In the video clips, the love birds appealed for help stating that they love each other deeply but the parents of the girl seek to eliminate them by engaging contract killers, thus justifying why they eloped.

The girl, a student of class X, of Baligohiri village under Nilgiri police station limits had eloped with the boy, Ardhendu Singha of Khantapara area before the matriculation exams.

The parents of the girl had lodged a complaint with Nilgiri police alleging their daughter was forcefully kidnapped by the accused.
