Father kills son over his drug habit

GHAZIABAD: The father of a 22-year-old man who was found dead in Tronica city was arrested on Friday morning. According to police, the father bludgeoned his son to death with an iron rod over his drug addiction and a dispute related to a property.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Rahim, a fruit seller. Rahim has told police his son Ashfaq was a drug addict, and had forced him to sell a portion of the house to fund his addiction. “Rahim told us that Ashfaq had started demanding that he sell the remaining part of the house and on his refusal, he used to beat his father and other members of the house. Fed up with his violent behaviour, Rahim bludgeoned Ashfaq to death on Friday around 2 am while he was sleeping on the roof,” SP (rural) Arvind Kumar Maurya.

A few hours later, Rahim himself raised an alarm that his son was murdered by some unidentified persons. Later, an FIR was lodged on the complaint of Ashfaq’s mother Shahnaz against unidentified persons.
