H.K. Patil’s personal website hacked

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H.K. Patil lodged a complaint with the city cyber crime police on Sunday after his personal website was hacked.

The Minister, in his complaint, said he found a “pro-Pakistan message” on his website, and the hacker claimed to be Muhammad Bilal. Mr. Patil then approached the police and lodged a complaint seeking stringent action against the culprits as the incident had dented his image.

The Minister said in his complaint that the website, developed in 2014, was utilised to spread information about government schemes, especially relating to his Ministry. Around 3 p.m. on Saturday, the Minister got a call from someone informing him about the website being hacked and the anti-national content posted on it.

Cyber crime police have registered a complaint under 66 C (Identity theft) of The Information Technology Act, 2000, 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 504 (Insult intended to provoke breach of the peace).
