New A-Class sedan will sit besides the next-gen CLA; to be unveiled at Beijing Motor show soon.
The forthcoming Mercedes-Benz A-Class Saloon has been leaked onto the internet ahead of its world debut at this week's Beijing motor show. A single image has been posted online showing the car's front three quarters, although unconfirmed by Mercedes-Benz, and it appears to match the design of development cars that have been spotted recently.
The A-class sedan will share the rest of the engines with the A-class hatchback. Inside, the sedan is expected to be almost identical to the hatchback and will feature Mercedes’ full-width digital dashboard and infotainment display. The S-class-derived driver assistance systems are also to be included, which will allow the car to steer and brake autonomously, up to certain speeds.
Mercedes will also unveil an all-new CLA next year. Not to be mistaken with the CLA, the A-class sedan will be a separate derivative. For example, its conventional roofline is unlike the swoopy coupé-like design seen on the CLA.
Both cars will offer a three-box shape in similarly-sized packages; but a Mercedes spokesman told our sister publication, Autocar UK, that both cars will appeal to different customers. Evidence for this, they said, comes with the E-class and CLS.
