Finally, the department has come to a conclusion to develop the tourist circuit that engulfs all the sites of Harappan or Indus Valley Civilisation in Gujarat. At first, the Gujarat government will be developing four of these sites like Dholavira in Kutch, Lothal near Ahmedabad, Ranpur near Limbdi and Sur Kotda near Morbi. The tourism department will not only revitalize these sites in terms of tourism but will simultaneously raise facilities for tourists at the places.
The secretary of the tourism department SJ Haider said, “When I met some Australian people including some influential leaders in past, they had said me that they would visit Gujarat for two reasons, first one was for visit to Indus valley civilisation sites and the second one was for golf. Besides them, many foreign tourists send queries to us on the sites related to Indus valley civilisation in Gujarat.”
“The tourism department has raised some facilities at Dholavira in Kutch and Lothal near Ahmedabad, but now we are going to make a tourist circuit dedicated to the Indus Valley Civilisation and that will be named as ‘Sindhu Darshan,’ as the civilisation developed alongside the river Indus that was also known as Sindhu in ancient India. We have great plans to develop two other sites besides this and we will showcase the treasure Gujarat before the world,” Haider added.
