Kate and William's royal baby announcements through the years on the steps of Lindo Wing
KATE Middleton and Prince William introduced their newborn to the world today as the couple welcomed their third child and once again walked down the steps of the Lindo Wing at the St Mary’s Hospital to show off the newest member of the Royal Family.
Express.co.uk takes a look back at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal baby announcements over the years.
The fifth-in-line to the throne, who is yet to be named, was wrapped in a white lace shawl with a matching hat and could be seen moving his tiny fingers while held by his smiling mother.
Kate, who was standing next to Prince William, was wearing a vibrant red Jenny Packham dress with a white lace collar, just seven hours after giving birth.
Before driving away to head to Kensington Palace, William took the time to joke with the crowd and reporters.
Holding up three fingers he said: "Delighted, very happy. Thrice the worry now."

He added: “We didn’t keep you waiting too long this time."
This joyful event marked the third time the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge showed an excited crowd their newborn child.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended their first photocall holding a baby on July 23, 2013, when future king, Prince George was born.
Following the birth of their first heir, the family spent a day in the hospital before revealing the first Prince of Cambridge to the world.
Just like today, Kate stunned hundreds of photographers with a perfect look.

For the occasion, she chose to wear a Jenny Packham dress in baby blue, the same designer also created the yellow outfit she showcased following the birth of Princess Charlotte and the red dress she wore today.
Baby George made his debut on the steps of the Lindo Wing a little over 24 hours after his birth, as the Duchess was discharged from hospital at 7.15pm.
His father joked with reporters on that occasion as well, when he said the baby had “a good pair of lungs on him”.
But Kate and William spent less at the Lindo Wing for the birth of Charlotte on May 2, 2015, when the Duchess was discharged just 10 hours after being admitted to the hospital.
The little princess was sleeping soundly when hundreds of photographers immortalised her image on the steps of the hospital.

On that day, the Duke said the couple were “very happy”.
The Duchess gave birth to her third baby at 11.01am on patriotic St George's Day after being admitted shortly before 6am.
The newborn, who is an HRH and a Prince of Cambridge, weighed 8lb 7oz and is doing “well”, according to Kensington Palace.
The palace said the baby's name would be "announced in due course", but Arthur is already the favourite with punters, according to the bookies.
Other predictions include Philip, after the Duke of Edinburgh, as well as James, Frederick and Albert.
