Four arrested on charge of killing secretary of co-operative bank

Three men and a woman have been arrested on the charge of killing a 36-year-old cooperative bank employee, whose decomposed body was found in a eucalyptus grove near a village in Attibele on April 15.

The accused have been identified as Rekha, 27, Puttabasappa, 26, Shaktivelu, 27, and Manikanthan, 29.

According to the police, it was Rekha who allegedly planned the murder of her colleague, Murugesh, who was secretary, Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society, Kachanayakanahalli.

Rekha worked there as a cashier.

Recently, Murugesh had allegedly found some fraudulent transactions in the money collected from customers.

During an internal inquiry, it was revealed that Rekha allegedly had a hand in it. Murugesh asked her replace the money.

“Rekha, who blamed Murugesh when she was caught, allegedly asked her brother-in-law Puttabasappa to kill him. She paid him and the other accused an advance of ₹10,000 with the promise that the remaining ₹25,000 would be paid after the job,” said the police.

On April 13, Puttabasappa, Shaktivelu, and Manikanthan went to Murugesh’s house. When he stepped out, they allegedly overpowered him and dragged him into a nearby eucalyptus grove where they strangled him to death with a belt.

“They stabbed his face multiple times and left,” said the police.

Based on a complaint by Murugesh’s wife Radha, the police took up the case and learned of the row between him and Rekha.
