JALANDHAR: Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) Punjab president Yograj Sharma on Monday lashed out at several other outfits named Shiv Sena in Punjab and said that only their party outfit was original and genuine as it was Punjab unit of the Maharashtra-based Shiv Sena founded by Bal Thackeray.

He alleged that several Shiv Senas mushroomed in Punjab and these were created by successive governments. “All the other Shiv Senas are fake and they can’t even contest elections in the name of their parties as they can’t get registered with Election Commission of India,” he said, while addressing a press conference here.

As he termed other outfits “fake”, he named quite a few whose leaders are being provided gunmen by Punjab Police and some even heavy security and police vehicles.

“They are agents of governments and work on the instructions from powers that be. They are provided security from top level of the government and then they operate according to the wishes of their masters. These people have been provided security and are encouraged to speak against other religions. Some speak against Sikhs and when they do so then they received acrimonious responses and then they demand security. They do all the drama just for getting security,” he said. Sharma said that there were over a dozen outfits named Shiv Sena in Punjab.

“Due to their utterances against Sikhs, latter dislike Shiv Sena. We want to tell the Sikhs that we are not against them and they should not consider us as their enemies. We stand for Punjab and Punjabiyat,” he added.

In the past there have been several instances in which acrimonious exchanges took place between different Shiv Sena groups and Sikh groups
