MG has built a large SUV

Here in the U.S., we think of MG as a maker of small, sporty roadsters (and occasionally wiring smoke), but the British marque long ago traded sports cars for serious, buttoned-up sedans of all sizes. Credit the company's move to China over a decade ago, where small, affordable roadsters are still a bit of a novelty.

The MG of the present is a bit ... unrecognizable, but the company is forging ahead into new segments and new powertrains. Breaking cover at the Beijing auto show this week will be a new segment entry for MG: the X-Motion concept previewing a large SUV that will enter production this year.
