Driver dies fleeing police near Brisbane

An internal investigation is under way after a motorist died during a police pursuit in Queensland.

Police were unable to pull the driver over on Redbank Plains Road in Swanbank at 5.45pm on Sunday.

A short time later they found the vehicle crashed and the sole occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Ethical Standards Command has been called in to investigate the chain of events and prepare a report for the coroner.

The Crime and Corruption Commission is overviewing the investigation.
