Bus catches fire, commuters escape unhurt

A passenger bus with 30 commuters on board had a lucky escape as the bus caught a major fire while it was on way to Baikunthpur from Raipur on Saturday afternoon. All the passengers jumped out safely from the bus.

The bus which belonged to a private operator Royal Bus Service, was largely reduced to ashes. The incident took place at village Chhapar, some 3 km away from Khadganwan in Chirmiri area.

Initial report indicated that fire caused by a technical snag, probably in brake system.
