CEDAR RAPIDS — The Eastern Iowa Airport saw a record-setting 110,381 passengers last month — marking a .7 percent increase from the airport’s previous record for March.
Previously, the airport’s record — set in March 2014 — was 109,653 passengers, according to a Monday airport news release.
The airport also set a passenger record in February, breaking the previous record set the year earlier.
All told, the airport has seen a 2.1 percent increase in year-to-date enplaned passengers, or those who board at The Eastern Iowa Airport.
In the release, airport officials cited the return of Frontier Airlines’ nonstop service to Denver, which started up again this month, and Allegiant’s seasonal nonstop service to Los Angeles — which begins again June 6 — as key factors in increased ridership.
The airport in January announced that it had set a new passenger record last year with 1.14 million people.
The previous record for annual passengers — 1.13 million — was set in 2014.
