Workmates of Wantirna South hit-run victim grieve an 'amazing couple'
Heartbroken workmates of a woman killed with her husband in a horrific hit-run are receiving counselling as they grieve an "amazing couple".
The Blackburn office of a dental software specialist where Bita Zaeim worked partially closed operations on Monday afternoon as colleagues and friends arrived to remember Ms Zaeim, 32, and her husband, 38-year-old Matt Goland.
The couple both died after their car was struck by a Lexus 4WD, allegedly driving at "horrendous speeds" in Wantirna South on Saturday morning.
Two teenagers have been charged over the crash.
Brent Corneille was Ms Zaeim's boss when she first met her future husband online two years ago.
"They just hit it off straight away," he told The Age.
"They really connected with each other."
Mr Goland would catch the train to Blackburn each afternoon, waiting outside Ms Zaeim's office until she finished work so they could drive home together.
"He was a gentleman and he absolutely adored her," Mr Corneille said.
The couple were married in Bali a year ago. They had a pet dog, Bella, and had talked of starting a family. This weekend, they had been due to fly to Perth for a holiday.
Instead, their lives were cut short as they drove home to The Basin after a night out in the city with friends.
"It's really just so tragic," Mr Corneille said. "Everyone's really, really shocked and obviously upset. They were just amazing people. They both had such big hearts."
Eric Victorsen, 19, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Sunday, charged with two counts of culpable driving and one count of theft of a motor vehicle.
A lawyer representing Mr Victorsen told the court his client suffered from an acquired brain injury and had an unspecified intellectual disability.
He did not apply for bail and will face a filing hear on Tuesday.
A 15-year-old girl appeared in court on Monday, accused of trying to help the teenager who allegedly caused the crash evade police.
The magistrate remanded the girl, who cannot be named, to return to court on May 14.
