Cardamom futures rise 3% on spot demand

prices shot up by 3 per cent to Rs 972.40 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions amid pick-up in demand.

Tight stocks position on fall in arrivals from growing regions supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, for delivery in May contracts was trading higher by Rs 28.30, or 3 per cent, to Rs 972.40 per kg in a business turnover of 29 lots.

The June contract of the spice traded higher by Rs 17.60, or 1.85 per cent, to Rs 969.90 per kg with trading volume of 9 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick up in demand in spot market pushed up prices.
