Colorado's UCHealth system was named the fifth-best in the nation in a new study from IBM Watson Health. The Truven Health Analytics study looked at quality and outcomes data, finding that the top-rated organizations had fewer deaths, complications and infections; shorter stays and emergency room wait times; lower costs, and higher patient satisfaction.
UCHealth maintains 10 hospitals and 150 clinic locations across the state, including Longmont's new Longs Peak Hospital.
The ranking is "an important reflection of the significant amount of work we've been doing over the past several years to coordinate the care and experience provided at all UCHealth locations," spokesperson Kelly Tracer said in a statement. "We've worked on system-wide projects to reduce sepsis and other patient safety concerns, reduce hospital readmissions, reduce wait times in our emergency departments, control costs, shorten length of stays and improve the overall outcomes of our patients."
