PATNA: At least five persons were killed and seven others were grievously injured after a truck collided with an auto-rickshaw on NH-30 near
Maner Bazaar under
Maner police station area in Patna on Sunday noon.

Rajeev Ranjan said that out of the five deceased, identity of four has been ascertained by police.
He said the deceased were identified as
Annu Paswan (50),
Rajkumar Paswan (8), Rajeev Kumar Sharma (35) and Dayanand Paswan (50).
“Body of an unidentified male was kept at Danapur sub-divisional hospital,” he said adding all injured were rushed to
Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) where conditions of two were critical.
He said that the accident took place at around 11.30am when the empty truck collided head on with the auto-rickshaw.
“While the truck was going to Bihta from Danpur, the three-wheeler with the passengers was coming from Bihta and was going to Danapur,” he said adding it was straight road where the accident took place.
He also said that it was yet not sure that due to whose fault the fatal accident took place.
“The truck was seized but the driver managed to flee from the spot,” he added.
He said Annu and Dayanand were residents of Jafra Bhagwanpur located under Naubatpur police station area while Rajkumar and Rajeev were Jamunia Tola under Maner police station area.
Maner circle officer (CO) Anju Singh said that process to disburse ex-gratia to the kin of deceased has been initiated.
“The injured persons were Umesh Paswan and his wife Kiran Devi of Jamunia Tola, Jitendra Prasad and his three daughters Ribha Kumari, Pammi Kumari and Gudia Kumari, all four residents of Kurtha in Jehanabad and Manoj Paswan of Maner,” Singh said.
She said that the deceased Rajkumar is son of injured Umesh and Kiran adding it is Kiran and Ribha who are critically injured. She said that bodies of Rajeev and Dayanand were taken away by their family members after post mortem while the unidentified body was still kept was sub-divisional hospital. “Rest two bodies were kept at PMCH,” she added.
