Cape Town - The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has strongly condemned the hooliganism and acts of violence that took place at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening after Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup, going down 2-0 to Free State Stars.

Immediately after the final whistle blew, a section of the Chiefs fans began a rampage that would see parts of the stadium damaged, security guards attacked and players fleeing to the change rooms.
Police were forced to use tear gas as well as stun grenades to bring everything under control as Chiefs coach, Steve Komphela announced his immediate resignation shortly thereafter.
The PSL released a statement on Sunday morning regarding the violence.
"The Premier Soccer League strongly condemns acts of hooliganism and violence that took place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night following the fixture between Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars.
Hooliganism and thuggery of this nature has no place in football and acts of violence perpetrated by individuals as witnessed last night cannot be tolerated.
The League will work closely with law enforcement to ensure that those responsible for this hooliganism are subjected to judicial processes.
The League is currently awaiting reports from all relevant role players."
