Harassment by ‘alcoholic’ wife drove man to murder

Accused attempted suicide before his escape bid was foiled

A Mailardevpally resident, who was handed over to police on Saturday afternoon allegedly for murdering his wife, was arrested by Cyberabad police on Sunday.

Sharing details of the case, police said the accused, Pulak Borah (40), a Delhi University post graduate, married Tutu after divorcing his first wife, Anima, in 2010 with whom he had three children.

Pulak migrated to the city in 2013 from Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh and was working at a private security agency in Madhapur as supervisor.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that Tutu was addicted to alcohol and would often picked up quarrels and even physically assaulted him in a drunken state. Unable to bear the harassment, he banged Tutu’s head against the wall during a heated argument on Saturday and later strangulated her to death in their Babul Reddy Nagar residence, said P. Jagadeeshwar, inspector, Mailardevpally.

Pulak was caught by his house owner, Meghawath Surya, while he was trying to escape from the house after killing his wife, and handed over to police. “After killing his wife, he unsuccessfully tried to end his life by hanging himself from the ceiling, and later decided to escape,” Mr Jagadeeshwar said.
