A NAKED gunman has killed three people and at least four others have been wounded at a Waffle House restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee.

The shooting unfolded at around 3.30am (9.30am UK time) this morning inside the popular diner on Murfreesboro Pike in Antioch, near Pin Hook Road.

Metro Nashville Police department tweeted that Travis Reinking, 29, of Morton, IL, is the person of interest in the Waffle House shooting.

A spokesman said: “The vehicle the gunman arrived in is registered to him.

“Gunman last seen walking south on Murfreesboro Pike. He shed his coat and is nude.

“See Reinking? Pls call 615-862-8600 immediately."

Police say that the gunman, was white with short hair and was naked except for a green jacket.

He went into the restaurant and started firing an AR-15, according to police.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect who went on the run shortly after the shooting.

A spokesman for Nashville Police Department said: "Three people were fatally shot and four others wounded. The gunman opened fire at 3.25am. A patron wrestled away the gunman's rifle. He was nude and fled on foot."

At least one victim has been taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses said that one of the diners grabbed the gunman’s weapon from him to stop him from shooting.

Local news reports claim that the gunman left his AR-15 inside before he fled.

An image from the scene shows that police are standing guard outside the eatery which is located in a retail complex.

The semi automatic style weapon used in this shooting - the AR-15 - was the exact model used by Nikolas Cruz at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, to kill 17 people and leave 14 wounded in February.
