13 dying in road mishaps daily in State

As many as 13 persons on an average are being killed in road mishaps every day in the State as per the Road Accident Data-2017, informed Transport Minister Dr Nrusingha Charan Sahoo in the State Assembly in response to a question BJD MLA Priyadarshi Mishra on Saturday.

The Minister said the Government has taken many measures to check road accidents. A total of 37 interceptor vehicles fitted with Speed Detection Radar and Breathe Analyser have been put into service on National Highways to nab drunken drivers. Similarly, Transport Department Traffic Inspectors are conducting checks and nabbing road violators.

Solar-powered Blinkers have been installed at Median Intersection Points at on the NHs from Khordha to Chandikhol  and Bhubaneswar to Puri to check accidents.
