CPI(M) unanimously elects Sitaram Yechury as General Secretary |
CPI(M) unanimously elected Sitaram Yechury as its General Secretary at its 22nd party congress in Hyderabad today. His election to the post for the second time was approved by the party's newly-elected 95-member central committee.
The central committee also elected a 17-member politburo including Sitaram Yechury, Prakash Karat among others. The five-day party plenary which began on April 18th in Hyderabad is coming to a close today.
