Media: Times UnionCOLONIE — Colonie police arrested a man and woman after a dramatic traffic stop Sunday evening on Albany Shaker Road.
Police surrounded a green Honda with their weapons drawn and shouted commands for two people in the car to raise their hands before coming out of the vehicle.
Colonie police were investigating an armed robbery at the Dunkin Donuts on New Karner Road that happened about 15 minutes before the stop, according to scanner reports.
The arrests stopped traffic on Wolf Road and Albany Shaker Road. Diners from the Blu Stone Bistro came out to watch the stop, many filming it with their phones.
Another armed robbery occurred on Central Avenue Monday.

Two people made off with several hundred dollars after robbing the Mobil Station at 1351 Central Ave., late Monday night, police said.
Colonie police said they were called just before 11 p.m. The clerk told police that two people, each armed with a gun, walked in and demanded cash. The two fled and left in a vehicle that was waiting outside. No one was injured.
Police said one suspect is a black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a red bandanna, armed with a black revolver.
The second suspect may be a woman. Police described that suspect as light-skinned with a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a black bandanna, armed with a black handgun.
