My family is deeply rooted in Coralville. My great-great grandfather helped incorporate the town in 1871 on his land and was on council for years. My great uncle Edward Koser was mayor of Coralville for 33 years; my grandfather was on council. They laid the plats, they paved the streets. My mother helped start the League of Women Voters in 1973. Coralville matters to me. And so does Janice Weiner, who is running for Iowa Senate District 37.
Janice and I grew up on 5th Avenue; we rode trikes to Koser’s store. We attended Coralville Central, swam in the pool when it was first built, were in Girl Scouts. She knows how Coralville was and what it is today. Her family was involved in community theater and enrichment at a time when the community was lacking.
My Uncle Dean Jones said, “Vote for experience.” Let’s vote for the woman who worked with five Presidents and Secretaries of State, who is a true public servant, who speaks six languages — and her seventh is #RadicalEmpathy. Janice is a real, original Coralville native.
