Man ends life after killing his two children

A 45-year-old man murdered his two children and inflicted injuries on his wife before killing himself when the police tried to nab him at Salwarpatti near here on Sunday.

The police said that M. Anthony, who was suffering from depression, slit the throats of his two children, Muthulakshmi, 9, and Eswaran, 4, at his house at around 4:30 a.m.

He also tried to murder his wife Muneeswari, 38. While the two children died on the spot, Muneeswari was lying in a pool of blood. She was later admitted to the government hospital here.

Meanwhile, locals and the police went to the Savukku oodai where Anthony was hiding.

When the police tried to nab him he warned them with dire consequences, waving the machette at them. However, he suddenly slit his throat and fell down. He also died on the spot.

Superintendent of police M. Rajarajan inspected the scene of the crime. The Elayirampannai police are investigating.
