Charles J. Mullinnix, 87, of Lone Tree, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at St. Mary's Church in Lone Tree. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457. Following the burial, a
time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree with a
7 p.m. rosary.

Charles John Mullinnix was born Aug. 8, 1930, in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Floyd L. and Lenore M. (Cerny) Mullinnix. Charles was a graduate of Lone Tree High School. He entered into the Army in 1951. He served in Korea as a sergeant from 1952 through 1953 as a tank machine gunner. On Jan. 26, 1954, Charles was united in marriage to Wilma J. Cooney at St. Mary's Church in Riverside. Charles farmed in Johnson County. He did custom corn shelling and then worked for Oral B in Iowa City. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Lone Tree and Lone Tree American Legion Post 457. Charles enjoyed camping, traveling, woodworking, helping at the farm but, most of all, spending time with his family.
Charles will be deeply missed by his wife, Wilma; children, Gary (Terri) Mullinnix, Catherine (Allan) Sexton and Janice Mullinnix; grandchildren, Dawn Jarrard, Chad (Saralyn) Mullinnix, Corisa (Jamie) Sexton, Jason (Kimberly) Sexton, Tamra (Dan) Roberts, Tonya (Dave) Wageman, Renae (Joe) Williams and Katie Rincon; 13 great-grandchildren, and two on the way; brothers, Don (Donna) Mullinnix of Riverside and Gene Mullinnix of Lone Tree; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Mullinnix; brother, Bill Mullinnix; and his in-laws, Thomas and Elma Cooney.
