TN cop suffers hand fracture after being attacked by tipplers

TIRUPUR: A sub-inspector of police in Tirupur suffered a hand fracture after a group of people attacked him when he questioned them about the illegal sale of liquor at a Tasmac during non-working hours on Sunday.
Sub-inspector Annadurai, a native of Madurai who is working at Tirupur central police station, was on patrol in Chellam Nagar around 9am. He saw four men drinking liquor in a public place near a Tasmac shop. He questioned them as well as the employees at the Tasmac liquor shop. (A per rule, Tasmac shops can be open only for ten hours, from noon to 10pm.)

The four men, who were drinking liquor, allegedly attacked the sub-inspector. Annadurai, who suffered a fracture on one of his hands, was admitted to a private hospital. The Tirupur central police registered a case.

“We have traced the alleged attackers and are conducting inquiries with them. They will be arrested once it is established that they are the real attackers," said a senior a police officer.
