The Election Commission said in a statement that Biennial elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Council from six local bodies' constituencies will be held on May 21. The commission said that the term of office of one of these members would end on May 31 while it would end on June 21 for the other five members.
The term of office of NCP's Anil Tatkare, who represents Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg local bodies' constituency, will end on May 31.
The terms of Jayant Jadhav of Nashik seat, Abdullah Khan A Latif Khan Durani of Parbhani-Hingoli, the Congress's Dilip Deshmukh of Osmanabad-Latur-Beed, BJP's Pravin Pote of Amravati seat and Mitesh Bhangdia of Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli constituency would end on June 21. Polling will take place on May 21 and counting of votes will be held on May 24.
