A Fort Myers woman has been identified as the victim of a homicide in Bonita Springs Saturday night.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office said Destiney Bocanegra, 25, was the person found in the area of Matheson Avenue and Goodwin Street in Bonita Springs. She was Lee County's eighth homicide since April 7.
An investigation into her death remains active in the Matheson neighborhood after a shooting was reported there Saturday night at about 11:15 p.m.
On Sunday morning, residents in The Gardens, a condominium and apartment community that abuts Matheson, were walking their dogs and talking about the police presence. The property is separated from Matheson by a six-foot, green metal fence.
"There was music all night long," said Helen Breen, out for a stroll with her pooch. "It was pretty loud."
Breen said she went inside about 10 p.m. and didn't hear any gunfire.
"They're having a good time," she said. "It sounds like they're doing karaoke. Someone is singing and then they laugh."
She said the music, which wasn't obtrusive to her, usually gets going on the weekends and right in the area where crime tape had the road sectioned off.
Other Gardens residents also said they heard the music and what sounded like firecrackers and then the area got quiet until deputies arrived.
A section of Matheson from just beyond Goodwin to almost Longfellow Lane, including Park Avenue, was closed to traffic by police tape.
A reddish-brown home at 27220 Matheson and a light brown van parked on the property along Park seemed to be the focus of the crime scene investigation.
A Lee County Sheriff's Office crime scene van was parked in front of the home. A second crime scene van arrived shortly before 9 a.m.

April 7:Hinso Estriplet, 46. Deputies found the self-employed taxi driver dead in a vehicle that reportedly crashed into the brush on an unpaved road at 31st Street West and Ruth Avenue in Lehigh Acres. He was shot several times. Charged in the case is Ricky Ligonde, 20. He remains in Lee County Jail on homicide and robbery charges.
April 9: Serafin "Danny" Lorenzo, 52, and Deana K. Lorenzo, 50, were found dead in and near a bullet-pocked truck behind an office building complex off Corkscrew Road in Estero. No information on motive has been released and no arrests made.
April 9: Pamela Hutchinson, 59, of Bradenton, fatally shot at a Fort Myers Beach timeshare condo. Likely killed earlier but not found until this date. Lois Ann Riess, 56, a Minnesota woman, allegedly killed Hutchinson, stole her identification and car, withdrew money from her bank account and fled to Texas. Riess, also a suspect in the shooting death of her husband David Riess, 54, in Minnesota in late March, was captured Thursday night in South Padre Island, Texas.
April 11: Ana Kajtazi, 52, of Michigan, was shot to death in a car behind the Denny's Classic Diner off Gladiolus Drive in Fort Myers. Ronald Hoffman, 83, told police he shot Kajtazi and them shot himself. He died later at the hospital.
April 14: Tara Binkley, 47, was fatally stabbed at a home on Acacia Avenue in Lehigh Acres. Michael Swisher, 26, is a suspect in the stabbing. Another person at the home, a man, was also stabbed and taken to the hospital. Swisher remains in custody on charges of homicide, attempted homicide and resisting arrest.
April 17: Ronald Buchanan, 41, found dead along Sparta Avenue and Scottsdale Street in Lehigh Acres.
