Holds the Prime Minister responsible for plight of State

Actor and Hindupur MLA N. Balakrishna has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of resorting to “cheap politics” instead of giving Andhra Pradesh a fresh lease of life after bifurcation.

“People will teach him (Mr. Modi) a lesson,” he said, speaking at the ‘Dharma Porata Deeksha’ staged by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Friday.

Mr. Balakrishna said the BJP was expected to come to the rescue of the State, but Mr. Modi “cheated the people” by going back on his promises.

He suggested to Mr. Modi to listen to the woes of the people instead of being influenced by his party’s national president Amit Shah, and asserted that the BJP would not win even a single seat in the State in the 2019 elections.

Mr. Balakrishna also blamed the Prime Minister for the inter-State water disputes and anomalies in the devolution of funds by the Centre.

He went on to make a few remarks against Mr. Modi, which raised many an eyebrow, holding him responsible for the plight of the State.
