Six arrested for boys' hostel robbery

Bhubaneswar: Police on Thursday arrested six persons, including a minor boy, for allegedly terrorising the inmates of a boys' hostel in Jatni and robbing them of their belongings on Wednesday. The adult accused were identified as Jitendra Samal, Pramod Singh, Kanhu Naik, Mahesh Kumar Jena and Ananta Behera, police said. The accused, who belong to Khurda, are between 18 and 20 years of age.
Police said the accused, armed with their faces covered, barged into the hostel at 2.30 pm on Wednesday. Around 12 boys were present when the goons robbed them of nine mobile phones, a gold ring and cash of Rs 10,000.

"Our personnel worked on some leads and nabbed the accused. Some of the stolen articles have been recovered. We are verifying the criminal antecedents, if any, of the accused," DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo told TOI.
