Bhopal: Union Minister for public health and family welfare JP Nadda gave away “Kayakalp” commendation award to Bhind district hospital at programme organised at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi on Thursday. The second prize went to Satna and the first prize in community health centre category has been bagged by Rani Durgavati Civil Hospital, Jabalpur. The consolation prize of Rs 50 lakh was given to AIIMS, Bhopal.
Under the Central Government Hospitals A category, the first prize of Rs 2.5 crore was given to the AIIMS, Delhi. Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh was judged as the runner-up in this category with Rs 1.5 crore prize. Union MoS for public health and family welfare Anupriya Patel was also present at the function.
Director of National Health Mission Vishwanathan and a team of various hospitals accepted the award on behalf of the state. Secretary Health Preeti Sudan and Manoj Jhalani were also present at the function.
Nadda said the condition of the hospitals in the country have undergone an improvement owing to the Kayakalp campaign. Warning the hospitals with less than 70% points, he said information about the review of work undertaken by each hospital at the end of the year would be updated on the portal.
Software was being developed which would have information on the patient’s admission, treatment, death, recovery period and whether the patient is satisfied with the treatment or not. To fix accountability at various levels, the ministry will also make public names of the hospitals getting negative feedback from patients through its Mera Aspataal (My Hospital) App.
The minister said that this year hospitals would be surveyed by “My Hospital” app. “Kayakalp”, an initiative for awarding public health facilities, aims to incentivise such facilities that show exemplary performance in adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and infection control as well as inculcate a culture of ongoing assessment and peer review of performance related to hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation. It was launched in May, 2015.
