Arsene Wenger to leave Arsenal after 22 years as manager

Arsene Wenger will step down as manager of Arsenal at the end of the season after running the British Premier League club's team for almost 22 years. In a statement published on Friday, the 68-year-old Frenchman said that "after careful consideration" and discussions with the soccer club, he felt it was the right time to leave Arsenal. "I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years," Wenger said. Under Wenger's management, Arsenal has won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups. However, the Gunners, as the club is known in the U.K., is currently sixth in the Premier League, potentially missing out on qualifying for the Champions League.
