Authorities are investigating a shooting that happened overnight, Friday morning.

Bethany police officers responded to Garrison Park located near Northwest 19th Street and North Gleason Avenue shortly after 2 a.m.

Someone called 911 after finding a male victim at the park suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. 

Responding officers found a 17-year-old who had been shot in the leg. 

When the ambulance arrived the victim was visiting with first responders.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is undergoing surgery, according to dispatch reports.

Police say it is unclear if the shooting took place at the park. 

A suspect has not been identified at this time.
