A 40-year-old Alma man is facing multiple felonies including weapons and drugs charges after police say he shot a gun in an Alma building and injured a 39-year-old woman early Friday morning.

That victim caused confusion for a short time when she sought treatment for that non-life threatening injury in Mt. Pleasant, first telling Mt. Pleasant police she was shot in the city’s Millpond Park before admitting she was actually wounded in Gratiot County.

Jeremy Dean, who according to current charges has at least one previous felony conviction, was arrested by Alma police at around 5 a.m. Friday morning in the 1300 Block of Rosedale with incident, according to the Alma Police Department’s Facebook page.

The victim was actually shot in a building in the 200 block of South State Street earlier that morning, police said.

The formal charges indicate Dean has previous drug convictions.

Dean’s bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety; a preliminary hearing is set for May 4 at 9:45 a.m.
