Municipal corporations seal 64 shops

In a massive sealing drive, three municipal corporations sealed 64 shops for misusing spaces in the national Capital on Thursday. The South and North Delhi Municipal Corporations jointly conducted drive at Rajouri Garden and sealed 54 marble shops at 112 points for violating laid down norms. 

Shubh Laxmi Marbels, Uttam Marbles, Fine Marbel House, Florex Marbel Company, Ambaji Marble, Shine Marbel , Ambaji Marbel are some of the famous shops which were sealed, a senior corporation official informed.

East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) also sealed 10 properties in Bhajanpura, M S Park and Shahdara. The EDMC official also informed that two properties were also sealed in West Jyoti Ngar and Soboli.”Besides, 14 vehicles also been impounded from Khajoori Khash for parking on road,” he said.

A senior south corporation official said that the move was taken on the instruction of Monitoring Committee appointed by Supreme Court.

North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) also sealed 37 shops in Rajouri Garden, Pitampura and Satyawati Colony. A senior NMC official said that officials of the building department sealed 29 shops at 68 points in Rajouri Garden’s marble market.

Traders in the national Capital have been hit hard after building department of the municipal corporations had started sealing business establishments for non-payment of conversion charges, encroachment and illegal construction on the instructions of the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee.

Thousands of shops have been sealed since last December and there is still no sigh of relief amid all the alleged efforts put up by all concerned stakeholders.
