KATHMANDU: Six children have been rescued from Lagankhel Bus Park today under the campaign ‘Child labour-free transport-2075’ in order to free public transport of child labour.

The children were rescued after monitoring of public vehicles (bus, minibus, microbus, tempo) operating in Kathmandu Valley with collaboration of Central Child Welfare Board, Labour Office, Bagmati, and different bodies working in the sector of child rights.

The campaign launched under the leadership Labour Office, Bagmati Chief Udaya Kumar Gupta, monitoring of 155 public vehicles was carried out today and stickers carrying awareness message were pasted.

The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act-2056 has prohibited child labour in public vehicles. The rescued children have been sent to social organisations for their protection and management. The campaign was initiated from April 18.
