Morar cantonement to be under municipal corporation: Tomar

The Cantonment region situated in the Morar area of the city will be soon integrated with the Municipal Corporation. This was stated by Union Minister of Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and Mines Narendra Singh Tomar.

 He was speaking at the bhoomi poojan of the Banshipura Road renovation works. The Minster added that a proposal for this has already been sent to the Ministry of Defence and all the formalities of the integration process will commence as soon as the green signal is obtained from the Defence Ministry.

 The Union Minister, during interactions with the media persons said that the integration of the cantonment area with the civil area will allow the residents of the area to get benefits under the Pratan Mantri Awas Yojana. The Minster also said that an amount of Rs 4 Crore is being spent on the renovation of the roads and drainage systems in the area, for which the bhoomi poojan was solemnized today.

 He added that the construction of drainages on both sides of the road will pave the way for cleaner and more sanitized surroundings. The Minster also said that an additional amount of Rs 2 Crores has been sanctioned by the Municipal Corporation for the construction of a road from Hurawali to Mohanpur. Sanction has also been given to construct a bypass road through Lal Tipara. The construction of the said bypass by the PWD will be a huge relief to the residents of the area who are facing problems, connected with security checking while moving through the cantonment area.

 During the function two tractors and two tankers were allocated for the area to bring drinking water. The cost of the tankers and tractors, estimated at 12.5 Lakhs was met from the MLA fund of the local MLA, Bharat Singh Kushwaha.

 The bhoomi poojan ceremony was attended by Bharat Singh Kushwaha, MLA; Vinod Sharma, the Municipal Commissioner, Mandal Chairman, Ramnath Rana and a large number of public.
