Vadodara: M S University’s Faculty of Science has bagged two grants worth Rs 2.21 crore from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), government of India.
DST has sanctioned a grant of Rs 1.85 crore to strengthen the post graduate teaching and research facilities under the ‘Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure in Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (FIST)’ programme.
The grant has been sanctioned for the duration of five years to the Department of Biochemistry of Faculty of Science. MSU’s syndicate members recently approved the grant during their meeting.
At the same time, the Department of Microbiology of Faculty of Science has received a grant for recurring expenses of MSc teaching programme in biotechnology from DBT. The department has received Rs 36.30 lakh worth grant for the year 2017-18. The department has received support for its biotechnology programme from DBT since its inception in 1985.
