A Riverdale couple’s state application to become licensed medical marijuana transporters has been denied.
The Michigan Medical Marijuana Licensing Board voted Thursday on two separate motions - that both failed to pass - in regard to the application submitted by Greentransport Services, a company proposed by Amy and Michael Densmore to transport medical marijuana around Michigan, according to video of the board’s meeting.
Their application had been postponed from the March 22 meeting of the board in Lansing for additional consideration.
A first motion made by board member Donald Bailey to deny the application based on Section 402.C.2 of the Michigan Medical Marijuana Facilities Licensing Act failed after board members Nicole Cover, Vivian Pickard and David LaMontaine voted “no” to denying it while board chair Rick Johnson and Bailey voted “yes”.
This section of the act states: “The applicant has knowingly submitted an application for a license under this act that contains false information.”
A second, separate, motion made by Cover to allow for pre-qualification status for a pending application until approval failed after Johnson and board members Bailey and Pickard voted “no,” and LaMontaine and Cover voted “yes”.
According to Bailey, reporting in the application was not done on an arrest and conviction that was required if it occurred.
Bailey said it took three responses from the applicant by the board to address the arrest issue.
Initially, Bailey said the response to the arrest issue by the applicant was that an incident had occurred but no arrest or conviction resulted. However, the applicants later admitted an arrest and conviction did occur.
