A saint attempted self-immolation in Ayodhya

A saint, who attempted self-immolation inside the high security zone of Ram Janam Bhomi in Ayodhya against police misbehaviour two days back, succumbed to injuries on Thursday. 

Ironically, the victim ended his life merely due to the misconduct of the local police who had abused and kicked him out of the police station when he approached them to lodge a case of theft. 

Taking serious cognizance, SSP Faizabad, SS Baghel suspended the Station Officer along with four policemen and ordered an enquiry. 

As per reports, Sadhu Ram Das Tyagi from Madhya Pradesh came for darshan at the temple in Ayodhya. Three days back, he contacted the cops of Ram Janam Bhomi police station and told them that his belongings and money was stolen by a youth and also identified him. 

However, instead of taking any action, the SO abused the saint and allow the youth to walk free. The saint, who did not eat anything for more than two days, after losing his belongings, requested the cops to take cognizance but he was reportedly kicked out of the police station. Upset with the police behaviour, the saint went inside the Ram Janam Bhomi premises, doused himself with kerosene and set himself fire to end his life two days back. 

Personnel of Central para-military forces deployed there somehow doused the fire and called the local police. The victim was rushed to District Hospital with 70 percent burns and was been referred to Trauma Centre o KGMU in at Lucknow where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.
