‘No injury marks; ligature marks on neck’

A 33-year-old man was found dead inside his residence in south-west Delhi’s Vasant Kunj on Wednesday, the police said on Thursday.

Prima facie the man committed suicide but the family suspects foul play stating that the relationship between the husband and wife was not cordial, they added.

Kshitij Malhotra was the digital marketing head at a private insurance company, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Milind Mahdeo Dumbere said.

“The police control room received a call at 3.56 p.m. on Wednesday. A team of police officers rushed to the spot. The man was taken to the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, where he was declared brought dead,” Mr. Dumbere said, adding there were no injury marks on the body save for ligature marks on the neck.

“The body has been preserved for post-mortem and an inquiry is under way,” Mr. Dumbere said.

Kshitij got married to Vipasha two years ago, the family said. His father Anil Malhotra added that Ms. Vipasha called his younger son Chirag around the same time the PCR call was made and told him that Kshitij was no more.

Constant fights’

“A few months after the marriage, the duo started fighting constantly. They lived separately for long periods too. The duo had been fighting for the past three days as well,” Mr. Malhotra said.

Kshitij’s family members, who live in Pitampura, rushed to his house in Vasant Kunj.

They found his body lying on the bed, which they alleged was kept there by Ms. Vipasha and the neighbours.

The police are probing if the relationship between the couple led him to hang or if there is foul play.
