Inaugurating the 12th Civil Services Day event in New Delhi today, Mr Naidu said, the essential gap today is between the grandiose conception and the ground level implementation.
He said, there is a need for honest introspection into effectiveness and efficiency of the administrative structures and processes.
The Vice President said, it is the introspection and reflection that has made many civil servants to come up with alternative strategies for improving the system.
Mr Naidu asked civil servants to give special focus to public participation as it is crucial for success of Government schemes. He said, change can not happen overnight and it needs collective efforts.
Mr Naidu termed the Indian civil services as the best in the world. He said, serving the people requires to have the humility to learn from other people and accept the differences.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances Dr Jitendra Singh said, Government has taken many initiatives which reflects the motto of Maximum Governance and Minimum Government.
On the second day tomorrow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will confer the Awards for Excellence in Public Administration for effective implementation of identified Priority Programmes and Innovation to districts, implementing units and other Central and State organisations.
