Cashless dream

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “A cashless society” (April 19).  As per reports, ATMs in several parts of the country are running dry. This awkward incident has proved atleast one thing: That cashless society is a Western concept which cannot be implemented in India. For the people of this country, cashless in toto to meet day-to-day life expenses is never possible as it is the most convenient and trustworthy option for them. Equally, it is a fact that post-demonetisation corruption has not reduced a bit with black money in the form of Rs 2,000 notes being hoarded by the rich. The Reserve Bank of India is now printing more notes but without fulfilling the rules for printing new notes and taking adequate safety measures, it would lead to more inflation.
