Jersey Mike's Subs joined with its customers in March for the 8th annual "Month of Giving" and raised more than $6 million to help charities nationwide. The campaign culminated March 28, when 1,360 Jersey Mike's restaurants donated 100 percent of sales to more than 170 charities.

BlueShield of Northeastern New York recognized Saratoga Hospital with a Blue Distinction Center+ designation for bariatric surgery as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. The bariatric surgery and weight-loss program at Saratoga Hospital was the only program in the region to earn the national distinction.

Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti PC made the list of "Top Patent Firms of 2017" by IPWatchdog.com. Firms are ranked in order based on the total number of U.S. utility patents issued in 2017. Listed at 104, Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti was the highest-ranking IP-only law firm in upstate New York.

Northwestern Mutual, the Tronco Financial Group, recently announced that three of its wealth management advisers were named to the 2018 Financial Times 400 Top Financial Advisors: Steven Tennant, Richard Kelton and William Newman.

Berkshire Bank received the 2017 Communitas Award for Leadership in Community Service & Corporate Social Responsibility, which recognizes businesses that donate time and resources to their communities.

Meng Wang, assistant professor of electrical, computer and systems engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, won a Young Investigator Program award from the Army Research Office. Wang will use the three-year, $360,000 grant to develop methods to extract information from complex data that could lead to improved image classification and object identification in modern surveillance systems.

Nanomaterials expert Ganpati Ramanath, the John Tod Horton '52 Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, was named a fellow of the Materials Research Society.

Linium Recruiting was selected by Forbes as one of America's Best Recruiting Firms 2018.

Northshire Bookstore Saratoga won the 2018 Pannell Award for Excellence in Children's Bookselling, in the general bookstore category. The award is given annually by the Women's National Book Association.
