KOLKATA: Four persons, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly picking up a fight with the staff and security guards of a restaurant on the ground floor of City Centre II Mall in New Town early on Friday.

On Thursday night around 11.30pm, the three men and a woman while leaving the premises of Blue Nile Lounge at City Centre, after having dinner, allegedly started an argument with the security guards and got involved in a scuffle.

Police said, they even damaged some restaurant properties following which the restaurant management along with the security officers at City Centre II called Bidhannagar Police who reached the spot and arrested the four persons - Sujoy Adhikari (33), Bishal Mandal (42), Souptik Pal (27) and Madhu Chowdhuri (30).

Cops charged them under IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 427 (mischief), 379 (theft), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention).

Tapan Kumar Mandal, the manager of the restaurant, however said that the men and women were fighting among themselves and began threatening the mall staff when they tried to stop them. “We have glass walls and the way the men were fighting, we feared they may break the wall and hence informed the authorities,” said Mandal.
