The fundraiser offers ride distances ranging from 16 to 100 miles along some of Flagler County's most scenic roads and trails.

FLAGLER BEACH — The 15th Annual Cycle Flagler Ride for Rotary is set for Sunday, May 6, at the Flagler County Executive Airport.

The fundraiser will begin at 8 a.m. — with an optional 7 a.m. start for "Century" riders — and offer a variety of ride distances ranging from 25 to 100 miles along some of the area's most scenic roads. It is expected to attract cyclists from throughout Florida and beyond, according to a media release from the Flagler Beach Rotary Club.

Riders will have the option to register for a 24-, 40-, 66- or 100-mile ride. There is also a 16-mile bike-path option on a nature trail for those who prefer a shorter distance in a quiet environment.

Registration and sponsorship opportunities are available at flaglerbeachrotary.org or facebook.com/CycleFlagler. Day before packet pick-up is from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the airport, 201 Airport Road, Palm Coast.

Cycle Flagler has become a popular event for both local cyclists and visitors who travel from many states to participate. The event’s rest stops are  known for providing top-notch food and drinks, as well as encouragement and cheer, during the ride.

The event helps support Rotary's local and international projects. The start, and post-event festivities including food, will take place at the airport.

"We are excited to be celebrating 15th years this year," Flagler Beach Rotary president Amanda Bailey said in the release. "We’ve raised tens of thousands of dollars for those in need in our area and beyond since launching the event in 2003.”

Last year's post-event food was provided by the chef and some of the residents from Women Assisting Recovering Mothers (WARM) in Bunnell.

“The feedback on the food was incredible,” Bailey said. “Everyone kept commenting about it.”

The WARM team will once again be providing food after the event.
