Swachchh Bharat Diwas under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan was observed in village Tolli under Yamkeshwar block in the district through an awareness rally taken out to mark the occasion. To make the villagers aware of the efficacy of MSW management, the students of different schools took out the awareness rally, asking all to desist from using polythene and to keep the environment clean.

On this occasion, bins were distributed among the traders operating in Neelkanth market. The awareness rally organised by the Swajal department was flagged off jointly by the Yamkeshwar MLA Ritu Bhushan Khanduri and district magistrate Sushil Kumar.

Addressing the function organized on the occasion, MLA Ritu Khanduri stressed that the combined efforts of all can help fulfillment of the Clean India Mission. “The traders, in particular, must lend their hands in fulfilling the mission.

The markets must be left clean and polythene bags should not be used,” she said. Ritu announced that she would give one vehicle for the disposal of garbage from her MLA LAD Fund.

DM said that the gram pradhans must spend 30 percent of the received funds in cleanliness activities.“We have already banned use of plastic and thermocol items both in the urban and rural areas of the district,” he reminded.
