US-based Aeropostale eyes Rs 500 crore from India in next 3 years

The US youth brand plans to add 12-15 stores across India in 2018-19 and build on the highly under-served market for young customers falling under the age bracket of 15-25 years.
Ahmedabad: US youth brand Aeropostale plans to grow into a Rs 500-crore business in the next three years, said Sumit Dhingra, CEO (Heritage Brands Division), Arvind Fashions Ltd, as the brand sets to open its 33rd store in the country in Surat on Saturday.

“Aeropostale conducted business worth Rs 100 crore in 2017-18 and going forward, we see ourselves achieving the Rs 500-crore mark in next 3 years,” Dhingra said of what he claimed to be one of the fastest growing brands in Arvind Fashions’ bouquet since it entered India in 2015.

In 2018-19, the brand will add 12-15 new stores across India, he added. “We have our pricing and positioning right in the highly under-served market for young customers falling under the age bracket of 15-25 years,” said Dhingra.

The brand plans to turn its focus on leisure and kids apparel as well. “While apparel and accessories have been working phenomenally well for us, we are also look at new categories to ramp our business in India,” he added.
