Siddaramaiah touchy about Badami question

The ambiguity over Chief Minister’s candidature from Badami — in addition to Chamundeshwari — remains unresolved with Siddaramaiah himself speaking in vague terms.

Any query related to Badami fuels his anger as is evident in the daily briefings to the media at his residence. On Thursday a query was raised by the media on the issue again following a late-night confabulation with a delegation from Badami and senior Congress leaders to thrash out the issue. The fact that B.B. Chimmanakatti, incumbent MLA, was also present stoked further speculation.

“This is an intra-party issue and does not concern you,” he said, in response to a query from the media and was irked with the same question being asked repeatedly. When it was pointed out that the public were curious, Mr. Siddaramaiah said, “People of Badami are very clear” and refused to elaborate.

Meanwhile, around 50 Congress activists besieged the Chief Minister while he was campaigning near Harohalli in Varuna and asked him to either contest from Badami or issue the ‘B’ form to Devaraj Patil.
