The Halifax Rowing Junior Team was in Sarasota on April 14 for the Sculling State Championships.

Mainland senior Ben Herstein and Seabreeze senior Bret Bay finished sixth overall in the Varsity Men's Double.

In the Men's Lightweight Double, Spruce Creek junior Vince Leffler and Seabreeze senior Zack Stapleton finished just .2 seconds out of the finals and sixth in overall time.

Spruce Creek junior Julia Van Cleef, junior Brooke Bell, junior Elisa Maneke and sophomore Emma Dominguez finished 15th in the Girls Junior 4x.

Seabreeze freshman Thomas Spelmans, Seabreeze sophomore Eli Coleman, Seabreeze sophomore Dylan Anderson and Spruce Creek freshman Armeen Khazraee finished 17th in the Boys Junior 4x.

HSFC SEMINAR: The Halifax Sport Fishing Club’s seminar at 7:30 p.m. Thursday will feature guest speaker Cameron Jaggard, who is principal associate with the Pew Charitable Trusts, U.S. Oceans, Southeast Team. During his eight years with Pew, Cameron has worked on a variety of campaigns to reduce bycatch in the U.S. pelagic long-line fishery, protect Florida’s forage fish and otherwise advance an ecosystem-based approach to fishery management.
